Ernie’s Van & Storage, part of Sowell Relocation Group, was founded in Berkeley, CA, in 1935 by James “Ernie” Sowell. Ernie was born in Tennessee and several years earlier he, his wife, and their newborn son had made their way out West with $5 and the hope of making a better life. After a bout of malaria and some time working several odd jobs, Ernie managed to establish a reputation for hard work and fair pricing, which led to him starting his own moving business. His company grew quickly, and before long Ernie’s Van & Storage had acquired a sizable fleet of vehicles and a long customer list.
Eventually, Ernie retired to Grass Valley, CA, where Move Sowell is still headquartered today. Today, his company is thriving and is still known for the same high level of customer service. Move Sowell has locations in Grass Valley County, Placer County, and Washoe County, and is able to serve customers throughout Reno, Tahoe, Gold Country, Sacramento, and the surrounding areas.
